How to Reheat Pizza Hut Pizza: I Try 4 Methods [Photos] (2023)

Index

Sometimes Pizza Hut's pizza offerings are just too good to pass up. Especially the take away offers or two for one.

But eating an entire pizza alone can be challenging (not to mention bad for your waistline).

Inevitably, there will be leftovers at the end.

I show you how to store and reheat this cheese and meat treat so it's just as good for tomorrow's lunch or dinner.

I also shared some freezing tips to keep your pizza fresh.

Very hungry? Let us begin!

What's the best way to reheat Pizza Hut pizza?

Pizza Hut Pizza is best reheated in a pan. Heat skillet over medium-low heat and cook sliced pizza until bottom crust is crisp, 2 minutes. Sprinkle a few drops of water around the pan and cover the pan with a lid for 1 minute. The steam melts the cheese.

A note on my experiment

In the mood for pizza, I grabbed the Pizza Hut menu and ordered two large pepperoni pizzas for dinner.

After eating a few slices (you can't try this on an empty stomach!), I put the rest in the fridge.

The next day, I tested four different ways to reheat my leftover pizza:

  • In a pan (the best way)
  • In a normal oven (good for whole pizzas)
  • Not in the microwave (in the worst way, but it will wet an old pizza)
  • In a fryer (quick and tasty)

After each slice was heated, I did the all-important taste test.

I noticed how fresh the pizza tasted, how fresh it was and how well the toppings had survived.

Overall, the pan produced the freshest-tasting pizza, but the oven and fryer weren't far behind.

The microwave fell flat for me, but it's fine for a stale pizza (the other methods are drier).

Reheating Pizza Hut pizza in a skillet

To reheat Pizza Hut in a skillet, heat a nonstick skillet over medium-low heat and add the pizza slices. Bake for 2 minutes until bottom crust is crispy. Then sprinkle 1-2 tablespoons of water around the pan (avoid the pizza slices) and cover the pan for 1 minute to melt the cheese.

The pizza comes out with a wonderfully crispy base, moist crust and melted cheese.

Bet you didn't know your pan is good for more than scrambled eggs?

How to Reheat Pizza Hut Pizza in a Pan:

  1. Preheat a non-stick skillet over medium or medium heat.
  2. Arrange the pizza slices in the pan, leaving space between them.
  3. Bake for 2 minutes until bottom crust is crispy.
  4. Sprinkle 1-2 tablespoons of water around the pan (not on the pizza). If your pizza is too stale, use 3 tbsp.
  5. Cover the pan with a lid for 1 minute to allow the steam to re-melt the cheese and moisten the pizza dough.

The hot pan will toast the bottom crust and the steam will melt the cheese and soften the crust.

Don't be tempted to overheat your pan..

Above average temperatures will burn the crust before the disc can heat up, especially on thicker pizzas.

Also, never turn the pizza!!

The cheese will stick to the pan and you'll be left with a sad slice of tomato paste and burnt cheese.

my judgement

The skillet was definitely my favorite method.

The base of the pizza was super crispy with a nice bite. And the top of the pizza was soft and moist with gooey cheese and delicious toppings.

It might even have been better than the night before (although that might have been the hangover).

Reheat Pizza Hut pizza in the oven

To reheat Pizza Hut in the oven, place a baking sheet in the oven on the middle rack. Preheat the oven to 180°C. Then place your pizza on the hot baking sheet and heat for 5 to 7 minutes until hot and crispy. For a less crispy crust, use a cold baking sheet or cover the pizza with aluminum foil.

The oven is a good option for heating bulk pizza.

How to reheat Pizza Hut pizza in the oven:

  1. Place a baking sheet on the middle shelf of the oven.
  2. Preheat the oven to 180°C.
  3. Place the pizza slices on a hot baking sheet (or directly on the oven rack).
  4. If reheating more than one slice, leave space between slices.
  5. Heat for 5 to 7 minutes or until hot and crispy.

Using a hot pan will help crisp up the bottom of the pizza, mimicking a hot pan. If you want to avoid a crispy bottom, use a cold baking sheet.

For stale pizza, I recommend dripping 1-2 tablespoons of water onto the baking sheet and covering the pizza with aluminum foil.

The water creates steam that softens the pizza.

Cover the pizza in the last 2 minutes of heating to avoid waterlogging.

This method works for both a standard oven and a convection oven. Depending on the thickness of your pizza, or if you have a specialty pizza with many toppings, you may need to adjust the heating time.

my judgement

This reheating method was good, but not as good as the skillet.

The pizza topping was tasty with a good texture.

But the pizza dough was a bit dried out and the crust was a little chewy (but nothing like the microwave).

The oven is ideal for reheating whole pizzas.

Preheating an entire oven for a slice or two seems like a waste of energy (unless you're using a toaster)!

Reheat Pizza Hut pizza in the microwave

To reheat leftover Pizza Hut in the microwave, place the pizza on a microwave-safe plate along with a glass of water. The water ensures that the pizza dough does not dry out too much. Heat pizza slice in 30 second intervals for 1-2 minutes. Optional: Fry the pizza on the grill afterwards.

If your microwave has a pizza setting, use that.

Tip: The microwave is the best option for stale pizza, as it's great for quickly soaking bread.

How to reheat Pizza Hut pizza in the microwave:

  1. Place the pizza slice on a microwave-safe plate.
  2. Microwave a cup of water - this will keep the crust moist.
  3. Heat in 30-second intervals for 1-2 minutes until pizza is heated through.
  4. Eat immediately.

As with microwave popcorn, the ideal time can depend on the type of pizza, so check every 30 seconds.

If you put the pizza in the microwave, it will be very dry.

Microwave and crispy don't go together. So if you want a crispy crust, you need to put the pizza under the grill for 1-2 minutes after reheating.

Eat the pizza slice straight out of the microwave as soon as possible, as it cools and dries very quickly (and when I say dry, I literally mean it turns into cardboard).

Be careful when biting into microwaved filled dough - the filling can become sticky.a lot ofwarm!

my judgement

The microwave was the worst of the four methods for reheating leftover pizza.

The crust came out chewy and mushy without being crispy.

But the cheese was hot - nice and gooey.

Okay if that's your only option.

Reheating Pizza Hut pizza in an air fryer

To reheat leftover Pizza Hut pizza in an air fryer, select a cooking temperature of 180°C (350°F) or a preset pizza button. Place a slice of pizza in the fry basket and cook for about three to four minutes. For a thick crust, reduce the temperature to 165°C.

Reheating the pizza with a deep fryer is a good option, but it dries out the pizza a bit, so I'd avoid it if your pizza is stale.

How to Reheat Pizza Hut Pizza in an Air Fryer:

  1. Select a temperature of 180°C (350°F).
  2. Place a slice of pizza in the air fryer for 3 to 4 minutes.
  3. For a thicker crust, such as B. A deep bowl, set the temperature to 165°C (325°F) to thoroughly heat the slice without burning the cheese.

Always keep an eye on the time when using a deep fryer. If you overheat the pizza, the dough may be too dry and the cheese and toppings may burn.

Don't overload the fryer with pizza or it won't come out as crispy as it could be. Keep it in a single layer.

my judgement

Air fryers are the greatest inventions.

They're fast, use less power, easy to clean, keep your kitchen cool and make great pizza!

The crust was crispy, the cheese was gooey and the toppings retained their flavor.

The only downside was the slightly dry bread, but that wouldn't be a problem for thin crust pizzas.

How to store Pizza Hut pizza

Allow the pizza to cool to room temperature before placing the slices in an airtight container. Separate individual slices with parchment paper. You can also wrap the pizza in cling film or aluminum foil if you don't have airtight containers. The pizza will keep in the fridge for up to 4 days.

Cooling the pizza to room temperature is crucial, otherwise the condensation will make the pizza mushy.

Don't keep the pizza in the box!

Cardboard pizza boxes allow air to circulate so the pizza is hard and stale within a day or two. If this happens, put the pizza in the microwave to store it.

It's a good idea to store different types of pizza separately. The flavors mix and youtruthI don't want your pepperoni to taste like pineapple.

Can you freeze Pizza Hut pizza?

Yes, you can freeze Pizza Hut. For best results, separate each slice with a sheet of parchment paper and wrap in plastic wrap. Add another layer of aluminum foil or place the wrapped pizza in a sturdy freezer bag and freeze. Pizza Hut will last up to 3 months in the freezer.

How to Freeze Pizza Hut Pizza:

  1. Separate the pizza slices with parchment paper
  2. Wrap the separated slices in plastic wrap, then place in a resealable freezer bag.
  3. Freeze pizza for up to 3 months

Separating the pizza with parchment paper prevents the slices from sticking together.

This means you can take one serving at a time (very useful for snacking).

And the plastic wrap ensures the packaging is airtight, so there's no risk of freezer burn.

Another (plastic-free) option is to quickly freeze your pizza slices on a baking sheet for a few hours before transferring the frozen slices to a freezer bag.

Before freezing the pizza, get as much air as possible out of the freezer bag (to prevent freezer burn).

How to defrost Pizza Hut pizza

The best way to thaw frozen pizza is still wrapped and in the fridge. Depending on the pizza size, crust thickness, and topping, this can take several hours or overnight. Keeping the pizza protected in its freezer bag prevents too much moisture loss, preventing the pizza from drying out.

You can also thaw the pizza on the counter at room temperature, which takes about 1-2 hours. Dipping the pizza in warm water (in a waterproof bag) will speed up the process a bit.

You can also defrost the pizza in the microwave for a few minutes if you don't mind risking a rubbery crust.

You can also reheat pizza straight from the freezer.

How to reheat frozen Pizza Hut pizza

You can reheat frozen Pizza Hut in the oven, fryer, skillet, or microwave. For the oven, air fryer, and microwave, just follow the directions above, but add some extra cooking time. Follow the directions for the pan, but there is no need to add more water before cooking the pizza on it.

How long does it take to get pizza from Pizza Hut?

Pizza Hut pizza will last up to four days in the refrigerator and up to three months in the freezer if properly wrapped and stored. Do not leave Pizza Hut at room temperature for more than two hours, as this allows harmful bacteria to take hold.

With these simple steps and tips, you'll never have to miss out on the best Pizza Hut deal or be hit by that cheesy Friday night craving ever again!
