Are the bagels keto?
Sadly, bagels are not keto-friendly. They are made with wheat flour which is not keto approved because it is too high in carbs.
But we have a solution for turning those super-rich bagels into perfect low-carb bagels that taste just as amazing as the original.
To achieve this, we replaced the all-purpose flour with almond flour, which has far fewer carbs and, frankly, makes these bagels super soft and flavorful.

Thick dough bagels
Bread is one of the most challenging things for me to give up when starting a ketogenic diet.
I tend to miss bread more than desserts, so on the blog you can find several keto bread options, like my favorite90 second breador this beautifulketo-litter.
It took me a while to perfect this recipe so that it was perfect, not just “ok” or “almost good”. I Couldn't Believe Mozzarella Pasta Was So Good Until I Made It Into Something Amazingketo pizzawith a chewy crust.
Better yet, the fat mass can be used to make low-carb desserts likeketo cinnamon rolls.
The texture is glorious, they are incredibly golden on the edges, and the bagel seasoning is the perfect touch.

Ingredients for keto bagels
First, let's take a look at all the ingredients you need for low-carb, low-fat keto dough bagels. There are only 6 ingredients to make the tadpole dough, even 5 if you don't count the salt.

- mozzarella cheese- You need hard, shredded mozzarella, not the fresh ones that usually come packed with liquid.
- almond flour– Choosing the right almond flour is very important. Opt for superfine blanched almond flour for best results.DO NOT USE ALMONDS!
- Cream cheese– Volvet is the key here. Do not try to replace or omit. The result will not be as pleasant.
- big eggs– help the dough stick together and create a nice golden crust.
- All seasoning for bagel– my all-time favorite spice, I use it to flavor everything. You can order a pot online, but you never get more, so I make it cheaper at home!
How to make keto bagels
Homemade keto bagels aren't difficult to make as long as you follow a few simple steps. It's really easy to make once you've gathered and measured all the ingredients.

Make bagel dough
Combine grated mozzarella, almond flour, baking powder and cream cheese in a large bowl. Use a rubber spatula to incorporate all ingredients.
Place the bowl in the microwave and allow the cheese mixture to melt. Remove and mix well to combine.
While the cheese mixture is warm, not hot, add the egg. Let the dough cool. If the dough is too sticky, add a little more almond flour. You can use a food processor to make the dough.
Form low-carb bagels
To shape the bagels, divide the dough into six equal balls. Form long strands and form a round bagel. You can also stick your finger in the center of the bagel dough. Brush with beaten egg and top withall seasoning for bagel, poppy seed or sesame seed.
baking the bagels
Bake the tastiest keto bagels12 minutes in the preheated oven until they acquire a beautiful brown color.

Place all formed bagels on a baking sheet and sprinkle with Everything Bagel Seasoning Mix.
Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the bagels are golden brown around the edges.
Carbs in Keto Bagels
Each almond flour bagel contains just 5g net carbs per serving. Most of the carbs come from almond flour.
It's still significantly smaller than a classic bagel with a total carb content of over 49 grams.

Ways to serve low-carb bagels
My favorite way to serve keto bagels is hot, fresh out of the oven, topped with cream cheese and lox. But they stay so warm!
Here are some easy topping ideas for gluten-free toppings:
- butter
- Cream cheese
- sugar free jam
- ceto nutela
- egg, bacon and cheese keto bagel breakfast sandwiches
- tuna cans
The options are endless. Just use your favorite combo and share with us by tagging me on Instagram! Can't wait to see their wonderful keto bagels.
Can I make bagels without nuts?
If you don't like almonds, you can make coconut flour dough with coconut flour. Replace almond flour with 1/4 cup coconut flour.
Note that almond flour does not have a 1:1 replacement ratio with coconut flour. They have different properties and you always need less coconut flour than almond flour in a recipe.
How to store Keto Bagels?
It's better to save leftoversketo bagelsin an airtight container for up to a week.
These are keto bagels that are freezer safe and can be stored in the freezer for up to 3 months.
